Thread: Local finds DD Goldedge abd Puma 18

Had some luck locally today. First is a DD Goldedge Pearduck.



Second is a Puma 18



Houston we have a problem



Even with that I couldn't pass up a 7/8 Puma blade. Now the debate is rescale it or repair, if even possible, the broken scale.

Lastly a nice bonus

Agreed. Great finds!

And you Texans are too touchy with the spelling of your cities!

Scales broken at the pivot pin are not worth repairing, just get a new set and transfer the inlay.

My left N#T for that puma,whats the blade size?

The French point makes the Puma the star of the show, even with the cracked scale. If it were mine I would try to match the broken scale to the front .... since it is on the pile side. Might be someone out there with the right match. Great find those two along with the barber hone.

Thanks guys, sp noted and corrected. Yea the Puma was my first choice also, just can't resist a 7/8 blade and I don't have a french point. Just about did not get the Goldedge because of the way it was honed up at the toe but got the price reduced accordingly and what the hay it will be a good shaver.

The busted scale is not the one with the inlay but the offside one. I would be grateful if some kind sole out there had a spare scale to replace the busted one with. My preference would be to restore as close as possible to original rather than custom scale it.

Both of those did not look like that when I got them but about an hour with Peek and 0000 steel wool got them this far. I also found that Meguiar's PLASTX clear plastic cleaner and polish does wonders on the scales and inlays. It also gives a nice final polish to the blades. Yea I know it's kinda redneck but it works.

I guess I'm in the minority opinion in that the DD Goldedge is my fave. That Puma really is stunning -- great finds!

You know I think the DD Goldedge is eye candy for sure but the more pedestrian looking Puma with large blade and french tip just might be a little more uncommon. That is just a guess as I really don't know.

I think you're right. I've seen far more DD Goldedges here than Pumas. Just sayin'.
