11/16 Deluxe: A Good Cleaning Goes Along Way
After posting about not know if I should keep some razors or get rid of them I acquired this one in the mail.
I was looking through eBay when I noticed this one that nobody was really bidding on. The pictures made it look pretty bad, but I have gotten some that look worse that arrived looking alot better so I thought I would take the chance and for less the $10 shipped it wouldn't be to big of a lose if it was as bad as it looked. I think if the seller would have taken the time to clean up the razor they might have gotten more bids, but who can say. I don't mean cleaning with steel wool or sandpaper as some seem to do. The first pics are from the listing and the second are after I cleaned up the razor. I haven't even polished it yet, just rubbed the dirt and the other stuff off with a rag. Some of the goldwash on the tang is rubbed off, but that doesn't bother me all to much. It came with a Cordovan Shell Horsehide Case. I think I really need to block eBay and stop going to antique stores or I will never stop buying razors. I really need to finish the ones I have sitting around. The smudge looking thing in one of the pictures is a reflection.

I was mainly posting this to show what a basic cleaning would do cause I have seen alot of razors that people were asking alot of money for that just kept getting relisted that looked alot worse than this one. Cleaning might bring more bids. I just don't like it when they use coarse steel wool or sandpaper to clean them. Its like scrubbing on a vintage gun with some sandpaper to try and get that "blue" stain off that people always seem to do.

Nice snag, you lucky dog. It doesn't look like it has much, if any, hone wear on it. Hope she's a good shaver for you!
I'm a sucker for a stamped tail. Giggity.
