    Default NOS Canadian Tech

Just received this as a birthday gift! A NOS Canadian Gillette Tech, altough inside it says, "Made In England." Anyway, the handle is heavy, which tells me it is full nickel (some of these handles are aluminum, and very light). Looking forward to giving it a try with these old Gillette blades. I have one other Tech, a ball end, that I have used twice, and it gave me a very good shave, and I suspect this one will do the same. Now I have two DE razors, so I will probably give one away, most likely the ball end since this one was a gift. I shave with straights (8 total), but I guess I will through in the DE from time to time. Needless to say, I feel fortunate and am thankful for so many reasons.

What's also fascinating is the 89c price on the top. Were these really going for so little back in the 'good old days'?

I know, really? This is a 4th quarter 1965 razor, so I was two years old. Wish my dad would have bought me one then!

I've been thinking today, when I switched from cartriges to straights, shaving became cool and fun, and that's the feeling I still have. That includes all that goes with straight razor shaving, i.e., honing, touch ups, stropping, etc. When I shave with a DE, I feel old, like an old man. I think that's because my dad shaved with a DE, from when I first took notice of him shaving when I was a kid, to the sad day that he passed in 2001. Is that weird?
