    Hi Ed,
I hope this helps. I'm wondering if yours also has the colors from heat traveling across the tang? It's an interesting effect but doesn't show up in the photos very well. But it did capture my fingerprints! Sorry.
I'm not sure of the origins of the razor as I haven't had time to research it. Most likely I'll leave it be , with a little cleaning of course, as it's in pretty nice shape overall.

A quick look through the razor guide didn't show anything for Independent. But under Blue Steel it did list Germany, 1920 - 1940. As was typical to my understanding many blades sold here were contracted through Germany, England etc.and stamped with whatever logo as relatively few seem to have been made here. I'm not all that knowledgeable about such things at this point but I'd say that's a fair guess.
I'm sure others here can give you a much better answer.

The design is different I can see that now, thanks for the extra photos. I wonder your was an American made razor? Here is the razor that I thought the design was the same on, http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...andfather.html

Edit: I see you posted while I was replying, scratch that American made part above.
    Aloha,

    Ed,
I have a variety of razors with that design on the shaft. As yours indicates it too was made in Germany.
Now that Jos. Rogers looks like it would really be something. I know I love the ones I have. That looks to be a sizable blade. Very cool.

Without sidetracking your thread to much more the Jos. Rodgers & Sons is on its way to gssixgun for inspection, cleaning, and honing, then Glen will ship it over to me when it is finished.
    Aloha,

Oh, no side track at all. These things lead to some neat discoveries.
Now, at the risk of being a copy cat since you inspired me, maybe I'll dig out my J.R. and get it into my line up for restoration as well.
