Wade & Butcher Mother of Broken Pearl
Nabbed this the other day from the Bay.
I would love to add this to the "will restore" list of blades.
I might need to repost elsewhere for help on how to go about restoring this one.
I haven't gotten it yet but it seems as if there might be some etching on the blade.
Anyone ever restore Mother of Pearl? Maybe I'll fill the hole with frosting..LOL

Re: Wade & Butcher Mother of Broken Pearl
I think its time for an intervention, Cheeta.
You have lost control LOL.
One day if you have some spare time you could put together a group shot of your collection, I'm sure im not the only one wanting to see it!

I was eye balling that one and was going to bid on it but had the same guestion, "How do you fix mother of pearl'. Since no answer came to mind I decided to let you have it.
Congrats!

I "fixed" one with bits of broken ivory scales. Pain in the butt! I figure if someone had some pearl, it would be doable!

I rest my case.

Thanks from everyone for your responses. I have limited email access since I am in the middle of a move. Hopefully I'll be up and running soon.
Thanks

You can get the MOP, no problem. The question is, how good are you with a dremel?

Dremel? Shudder! I get the willies anytime someone mentions getting that dastardly machine anywhere near a straight razor. I have ruined not one, not two, but three razors with a Dremel. Like sharptonn accuses me of, I guess I am just pig headed and it takes me longer to learn my lessons than others.
I won't recommend a method to accomplish the restoration but maybe sharptonn will. T'wer me, I'd use files and sandpaper to shape the inserted piece of ivory. Each to his own but those who have been there and done that are better able to advise than the likes of me.
