Thanked: 0My First Straight
Hi everyone, here's a photo of my first Straight Razor. It's a Dovo that I picked up through The Superior Shave web site. I tend to like the simplicity and nice, flowing lines of this design. When I weighed in against other Dovo's, this one really stood out for the shoulderless blade, and the nice clean unetched blade. Eventually, when my RAD kicks into gear, I'll be looking at a pair of the Bismarcks, and maybe a few others to bring me up to a 7 day collection over time.
Without further ado, here it is:
I picked this up about 5 months ago, and managed to nick the edge by unintentionally touching it to the faucet while rinsing the blade. (I cursed quite thoroughly as soon as it happened) In the meanwhile, I've been stuck using my DE, instead of learning the intricacies of the Straight Razor. It has however gone out to Lynn to have him work his magic and get it back in action. Now... What to do about my nicked strop?

Could you describe what type of nick you put on your strop(pics are also welcome).
If it's a flap, you could glue it down and lightly and sand it, otherwise you could just sand it down.

Thanked: 0Ask and receive... Here's some photos of my first strop as well! I'm starting to learn, but had no idea when I bought this strop. No fabric side to it at all, very nice leather. I was using it as is, rubbing with palm prior to use. I think my biggest issue was I was trying to go too fast. At any rate, here's the strop (and close ups of the nicks)

Thanked: 498Sweet, Russian leather is the best. Baxxer is spot on you got to tame those rough edges.
Doesn't look to bad.
