    Default Kismet 13/16 razor

I just got this razor in the mail today. It was by no means in a bad way but needed a good cleaning. I managed to tape off the blade etching and gold wash and polish around it. Then polished the rest of the blade and cleaned up the scales a bit. They are warped around the inlay sadly but it centers fine so whatever. Sadly one side of the scales is cracked at the pivot but not all the way through. So one day in the future this blade is destined for new scales and having the inlays transferred.

    The before from eBay:

It's been honed now also and has taken a great edge from the new Zulu stone I have recently received. I can't wait to try it out. I think this will end up being one of my favorite blades along with my W&B Celebrated, Bengall 13/16, a Cut-rite 7/8 and my Top Flight.

I wondered who got that razor, congrats. Nice looking razor and great size. Polished up nicely too but a pity about the crack in the on scale. Let us know how it shaves, still waiting for my Zulu.

I remember that one, decided to not pursue but was tempting.

I had no idea that there were so many people here after it. I'm lucky to have gotten it! Thank you for all your kind words. I will certainly report on how it shaves.

It is marked "Herbie's Barber Supplies, Chicago, IL; Made in Soligen-Germany" on the front. On the back it says "Made from Kayser Ellison & Co. Best Silver Steel".

If I ever decide to sell it I will post it here first but don't hold your breath too long though. ;-)
