Invicta King 3/4
Found this little guy at one of the local antiques today. It polished up nicely
Honing it will be quite difficult for me as I have only just recently started getting my feet wet in this area so to speak, and this little guy is a bit warped. Oh well, sure is prreeetty though lol.
Sorry about the average photos....but then again I never claimed to be a photographer!

Thanked: 1072Nice score. I have 4 or 5 Invicta's in my rotation and they are all fantastic shavers.

I have one Invicta and love it. By far it has has been my favorite razor to use. For me it was not so bad to hone and I am still newb-ish to honing.
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place

My newbish opinion puts this one as pretty bad because when laying the razor flat on one side, the toe is actually not touching at all. if all attempts by me fail ill just send it out for a pro hone or just leave it the draw to pull out once ive gained a little bit more experience

I've found warps more common with Invicta's & Taylors than Bengalls but they all shave nicely.

Well I honed up the Invicta King the other day and I am immensely proud to call it my first real successful honing job to date!! :-D I have taken two other razors from bevel set to finish with limited success as in that they shave but are not all that and a bag of potato chips.
The Invicta is another story completely! Pretty much anything that could have gone wrong with honing did in the beginning but i think that this played a part in the final result. First off, when I was inspecting the edge under some light, my newb paws of hands dropped the razor from a height of about 2cm to the table underneath, but not before the heel sunk into my thumb pad after about 1cm....I was actually pretty happy I had it sharp enough to do so lol
After that I accidentally put a very minor chip in the edge while trying to very delicately apply some marker to the edge to try and get an even bevel. With all things when trying to be uber careful, I messed up and slipped putting a chip in the edge when the marker skipped off...
Moving on, after I raged a little i just kept doing my rolling X's until I got it out and had a nice sharp bevel. After the 1k chosera I moved to my PHIG with some heavy slurry and worked it out to clean water resulting in a beautiful edge that was absolutely smooth to shave with. My best shave to date resulting in my closest to BBS so far with two passes WTG and XTG and easily surpassed my usual equivalent to cleanly and smoothly shaved for no ATG pass.
I think that having to get the chip out helped my technique as I got quite a bit of practice to get it there :P
The bevel is not overly even across the blade but I got it as even as I could and all the tests indicated that it wasn't being an issue as it wasn't having any issues passing the tests and is an absolutely stellar shaver!! It's also the loudest razor I own so far both in shaving and stopping as it really sings on the strop.
Very happy camper indeed :-D
