4/8 Shumate Tungsteel
I had a Tungsten already but have been looking to grab one of these. This thing had only a few little spots of rust and a little age-funk which took me all of about 5 minutes to polish out and make look like new.
Shaves like an absolute dream and I just love its smile!

That's an absolutely great looking blade! I didn't even know they existed - 4/8's made with smiles. I have a few 4/8's as I love them so, but never had the privilege to have one with a smile, other than a certain shorty I have .
That it shaves is an absolute plus - drool lol!!!David

Re: 4/8 Shumate Tungsteel
Yeah it shaves beautifully!
I couldn't tell the blade size from the pictures, but I thought it might be a 5/8. I was surprised to find it at 4/8. Luckily I'm not hung up on having only bigger razors.
I have an old smiling W&B that is 4/8 and smiles too. It's immaculate, like a brand new blade.
I just seem to like my Shumates a bit more. When the Dude is recognized in the world, unDudeness will be seen everywhere--- the Dude de Ching

I've always been curious about these Tungsten blades...wouldn't they be REALLY hard to hone as Tungsten is one of the hardest metals out there?

I think it's just an advertising ploy really. There's probably some in the alloy, but not enough to really make a difference.
But that's just a guess on my part. When the Dude is recognized in the world, unDudeness will be seen everywhere--- the Dude de Ching

I have one of those too - the smile isn't as pronounced though. Rather gentle really. It absolutely loves being run over the Coti! Interestingly, I am using it this week - going to shave with it as soon as I am done posting here - I really like it allot too. As 4/8's go... it's thinner than most.
I hope someone in the know answers this. ^^ I don't know all that much but I am thinking so too - otherwise I can't help but think it would be a really "harsh" shave. Well that's what I would imagine anyway?David

Re: 4/8 Shumate Tungsteel
I've never been able to put as nice an edge on it as I would like so I don't shave with it all that often.
I love to look at it though, it's all beautiful razor and looks absolutely brand new. Maybe one day I'll get myself a coti and try it on one of them, or maybe I'll send it off eventually. I'd like to be able to use it more. When the Dude is recognized in the world, unDudeness will be seen everywhere--- the Dude de Ching

Wow - yeah! That is too bad. I like it when they work as well as look purty .
I would offer to hone it for you, but I am no hone pro lol. gssixgun was the one who put me on to using the coti to hone it up. It could be that I put more effort into it, or any number of things really - but with a coti edge - it's smooth as sin. I use nothing else with it now. I am sure he could put a great coti edge on it for you... lol - I am sure he could put a good edge on anything.
Maybe try back at the bevel setting stage?David

Yeah, I'm going to try and start all over again with it here soon. I'm busy getting my more recent ebay razors sorted right now though. I'm thinking next week I'll give it a shot again.
I occasionally scan the ebay for cotis though. Eventually I'll get one. When the Dude is recognized in the world, unDudeness will be seen everywhere--- the Dude de Ching
