Beautiful Dorko Resto by Gssixgun!
I rescued this Dorko a few months ago from eBay and when i got it was in such a hurry to work on it that I broke the scales. I didn't have the right tools... Flush Cutters were in the mail and I didn't have the right size punch so I was using a piece of a hook to try to push the pin through and instead of being patient and working slowly I grabbed the hammer and gave it a little 'tap'... CRACK! Center Pin to edge of Scale! (Ugh!)... So, yeah, real bad case of RAD and Restore Fever... But, after seeing that crack I came to my senses, put the razor aside and not long after that shot an email out and Glen explained he thought he could not only restore the razor (I was originally talking about new scales..) but he said he had a proprietary process he thought would work to repair the 'original' scales!
The results are below (using GSSIXGUN's pics cause they are beautiful) and even with the razor in hand you have to really look hard to see the repair he was able to do on the original scales!
She shaves like a dream and definitely gave me a new bar setting for my own honing goals!
Thanks Glen!
Shawn

Thanked: 13249Actually those are the original cracked scales
I saved them, Shawn and I were discussing doing customs with an inlay transfer, and I asked if we could try fixing them first...
They are some of the most beautiful Vintage scales I have ever seen and I wanted to give it at least a try first...

Glen my friend, I really like what you did by saving those vintage scales! As it says at your website, what you became known for was your restoration of razors and keeping them as close to original as possible!!!
When Connor gets his lazy ass out of bed, I'll be sure to show him what a wonderful job you did!
Again, I for one appreciate the time and effort that you took to keep those beautiful scales in the service of someone who appreciates not only the way the razor shaves but to hold an original in his hands while he does so!!

Wow that looks amazing!
There is always a solution, whether it's already present or if you have to make it.

Beautiful restore by Glen on a beautiful looking razor, I would like to offer a word of advice to any newbie restorer never use such a fine razor with beautiful original scales as your first restore attempt, give a few old beaten up $10 razor a go you will learn a lot plus you won't be that upset should things go wrong.
