Default Gillette travel DE ... wow its small ..lol

got a new to me DE in the mail .
    a Gillette Tech Travel DE
yes i know , nothing fancy but man i never thought it would be so small ..lol .. im in denial that RAD is sinking in with the DE's also so i keep telling my self that this is a good buy that i NEEDED for out of town this summer since i got my first DE for that purpose !!

well as small as it is i was really surprised at how good it felt in my hands and on my face being it is so small and light . i ran a Dorco Platinum in it today for my first shave with it , it is a smooth shaver that was comfortable on my face but a bit mild on those areas under the jaw line , so far only my Super Speed with the no name blades from the drug/$ store have been able to get those area's very close with one pass WTG , and my Slim Adjustable a close second with Derby blades on setting 3 ...

i will have to try some more blades in it to achieve the most comfortable close shave even though i was happy with the results !!
never thought a different blade could make such a difference as im finding out throughout the sample packs nor did i think i would enjoy the use of a DE ..

I am right there with you, I am a straight shaver and just picked up a fatboy and slimboy; for no reason other than I had the need to buy them

Save that "1" Gillette blade that came with it, I believe it is original to the kit.
Put in a 5 pack to use with it.
    Just my thoughts.

That head is one of my favored shavers. It is about medium ( Slim set on 4) and very finger and face friendly. I usually choke up on the DE's head so i have no problem with it at all. No long bar, though to give it a better balance for some folks.

I convinced my good friend to buy one at a local antique store for $3 and he did! That was after I had to do a little negotiating, I had to convince him that its cheaper in the long run ($2-$4 for a pack of DE blades) and since he had to shave every day, he liked that. He was also hesitant on the polishing of it because he had never done it before. I finally got him to spend the money on it and invited him over to show him how to polish it. Now he is an exclusive DE shaver and then complained about the small handle and wound up getting another DE. Seeing that razor just reminded me that I convinced someone to turn to classic shaving.
