Thanked: 21Thats a beautiful blade. I was hoping for a bit advice. I'm new to the SR's and already have the bug, like most i was in one of the tons of antique stores in this town and picked up a couple of razors and one i left. If anyone can shed any light on the recent finds and if i'm a fool for leaving the other at the store.(yes i can still go and pick it up for the asking price of $25)
the first one I picked up for $20 is a H.H.HILL SOLINGEN GERMANY BLUE STEEL scales are perfect and no pits or nicks in the blade(actually cleaned up beautifully with a wheel and some jewelers rouge)
The second is a CROWN RAZOR CO BOSTON MASS EXTRA HOLLOW GROUND FULLY WARRANTED scales have to be replaced and some pitting on the top but the cutting edge is perfect. I picked it up for $10
and as i mentioned the one that they were asking $25 is for a GEORGE WOSTENHOLM & SONS CELEBRATED I.X.L. everything was beautiful except a tiny nick in the inner portion of the scale, barely visible, even though if i purchased it i would probably replace the scales and put on a nice bloodwood, redwood or another cocobolo set of scales(benefit of being in redwood country)
any information/advise would be appreciated.
