Default 4/8 Anchor Brand - Anything Special?

One of the other razors that my wife came home with the other day was this guy. It's a 4/8 Anchor Brand square tip. It's got some surface rust that will need cleaned up. I'm wondering if it's anything special or if I should have no fear starting a restoration job on it.

I hope my wife will bring me razors one day. I don't know if it is any thing special or not but I would say go for the restore.

I know that Anchor Brand made a lot of huge blades as well. I say clean it up and shave with it, I have found that a well-made 4/8 can be an amazing shaver.

I just got a clean 4/8 Henckels. It's TINY. It's like shaving with a popsicle stick.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Wester Brothers! Looks to be a small one. Kindof unusual, I think. Finding a big brother for it should be easy!

Clean it up and get 'er going. Is it a Manganese Steel or a De-FI ? They made other patterns but those two are the ones I see the most of. Good stuff Wester Bros and generally not too high priced.

Well, guys. You've seen the "before" photos. Here's what I've converted this rusty relic into.

As you can see, I didn't want to go all-out and give the blade a mirror finish. Instead, I took off the rust and sanded it to only about 1000 grit. I felt that given the pitting in some areas, a mirror finish would look a bit hokey. So, I gave it some nice Brazilian cherry scales, a nice 2-tone pinning, and I even salvaged the original wedge. Overall, I'm happy with the results.
