I recently saw a Wusthof NOS covered tang pop up on ebay. It was a beautiful. I had never seen a covered tang razor before and there was something about it that I was drawn to. It ended up going for more than I was willing to spend, but it made an impact.

I've been looking for a nice 7 day set for perhaps 6 months or so off and on, but just hadn't yet found that "right" set. While I'd love to go out and get a new set from Thiers-Issard, there's something about a vintage set that I'm drawn to. Who used them before me??? Well, I was pretty excited when I came across a Henckels 7 day set that with covered tangs about two weeks later. It was in decent shape at purchase. I hand sanded each of the blades and honed every one. The box is in rough shape. I was able to polish the sterling emblem, but the leather is pretty shot. It would have been great if they actually had the days of the week on the blades... Regardless, I'm pretty pleased with the purchase. Based on the logo it appears to be post 1900, but pre-1969. Shreve & Co appears to be a high-end jewelry store in San Francisco. I'm really enjoying them and hope you do as well.
