I used 3 to 4 layers of tape to basically re-establish a spine, which narrows the bevel, gives it a little more strength and makes establishing the bevel and subsequent honing much easier. At 4 layers it can get spongy, but you can get through that. With what you've already done it'll form a double bevel, but you've got plenty of steel at that edge to support it. Edit2: Gooser and Oz are more observant than me! You really can't do this with a 4k, unless you have lots of time and really like to hone, really, really like it.
