I am just curious, and I don't want to make you feel worse ... are you certain it wasn't the scales that were warped?
For future reference ... you could have just molded the scales with the same warp as the blade if it wasn't so severe it would affect honing.

    Loctight Huh... Lol

Yes the blade was warped if I put the tang straight down on the table it was about a 1 and a half inch rise on it. The other side of the tang was flat with the table. Next time for sure I will just w

Well you could always do like I do. You look around and see if anybody saw ya do it that knew ya. If not, you go on about your work as if nothing happened. If so, ya look at em and say whaaaaat. And remember that silence is the best accomplice. But I still feel for ya man!

Scales are easier to work with than blades. If it was hitting the scales, suspect the scales. If unknown, work with the scales. If you know a tang is off, work with the scales! Remember this and don't try to bend a blade. It won't work! JMO

I feel your pain! God, that's one of the worst feelings in the world.

I picked up a Dubl Duck satinedge last weekend at the local co-op and started cleaning it all up and after 30 minutes on the greaseless I dropped it on the floor, damnit!!! Broke in 3 pieces. I still have the scales though......
