Thanked: 2591Filarmonica wedge
Just got this one in, a #13 Medallion Taurino Banderillas.
Imagine my surprise when I found out the razor is a wedge..first time I see one of those.
From the auction pics it did not look like it was a heavy grind.
Unfortunately the condition required more aggressive restoration so the etch will be lost

A wedge you say?
I have quite a few of them myself, and mine are not even close to being wedges..
I'd rate mine as half hollow, or even 3/4 grind.
I really hope that there isn't yet another iteration of these, as that could get somewhat expensiveBjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Thanked: 2591Thanks guys, I have seen a few Taurinos in the Filli thread but I think they were all hollows. I'll post pics when this is restored.

Grinds
No big deal really, but I figured a pic would shed some light on the differences in grind.
Here you can see the MT alongside a quarter hollowed Charlie Lewis and a more wedgy Buddel.
(The Buddel, if I recall correctly, was advertized as a quarter hollow)
The Medallon Taurino is the one in the green scales.
I find it very interesting that you have found one that is noticeably more wedgy than the ones I have.
The 9 I have of them all resembles the one pictured here.
I don't know how long they produced the MT's, and how much they changed during its lifespan..

Thanked: 45Doesn't really look like much is needed except some spot cleaning and a hone. I don't see any major rust which would require more extensive cleaning. I would rather keep some character on the blade than to lose the etch. Nice razor!

If it was mine .... not that it matters, because it's not .... I'd do the semichrome paper towel "restore" and call it good rather than lose the etch. Different strokes.
