Default New Thiers Issard, 6/8 Festonne

THis came in the mail yesterday, going to use it today after a good stropping to see what the factory edge is like. This is my second TI, the other being a 7/8 with a thumb notch that I picked up last year. I expect this will be a good shaver, and will probably need to hit the stones to get it shave ready, but we'll see.

Nice razor!! I like my TI's a lot.

If you want to test that factory edge, do a test shave first without stropping, and then stop and strop to see what the difference is. Inquiring minds want to know!!

    Enjoy that beautiful razor!!

    Regards,

    Howard

Your name inspired me to strop the heck out of this razor before it's first shave, and I'm glad I did. I ran it through an Illinios 827, then a SRD Premium I. This is the fifth new razor I have purchased (and the last), and this is the first one that felt truly shave ready. I had a nice smooth 2 pass shave, and am BBS. This steel felt silky smooth, reminds me of Sheffield steel. Anyhow, glad I got this razor.

Ha! I didn't even catch that. I guess it is, I thought it was that C135 stuff. Either way, it's of no consequence. It's a good razor and I'll keep the factory edge until it needs a touch-up, and at that point I may reset the bevel and hone it up.

great razor. I had a similar one. The vintage TI steel is very nice too. I think I actually prefer it to the new C135. I still have a Bijou de France in the vintage steel.
great shaver but the dos festonne are great and look like a classy razor

Gentlemen, I must say these are beautiful razors. I've had two different models of the "Festonne" in the past and sold both. Pardon me while I kick myself in the tokhus. On the other hand, my birthday is next month.
