Thread: New find. Need help identifying...

So I went to a new antiques shop today and found this little beauty.

It has a full wooden tang with the blade inserted into it. Bakelite? scales with a bit of a chip out of the one. I'm not sure if they're original. They just don't seem right to me although the tang and tail are really thick. It came in a boker coffin box which I'm sure isn't original because the razor is just a hair too long to fit in it.

Any help with identifying would be great.

I think the scales are original, and also i really think its a real boker razor, but the tang was definately recovered. here a pic of what it once looked like.

Well then that little journey was worth it. That shop was heaven on earth. I had 10 minutes to shop because they were closing and counted around 50 straights. They had some really nice pieces and all reasonably priced. I just couldn't pass this one up for $20.


What recommendations would anyone have for restoration of it. The pins on the one side don't have washers on them and the blade is very loose.

The scales are broken, the covered tang looks thick and bulky, its really up to you on how far you want to take it, but the blade looks like it will clean up fine.
