The dearly beloved, who is an angel, has given me that entire bathroom to use as my shave den. We have two in my humble condo. She even offers useful decorating and practical suggestions about the setup. She uses the other bathroom. Sometimes she looks at the razors, soaps and creams and says, "They grow like rabbits." She then rolls her eyes, smiles and shuffles off. An angel, indeed.

A wonderful space you have carved out for yourself there! Nicely stocked and organized to boot!

Out of curiosity, why do you store your razors blade up/tail down?
I shave because I want to, not because I have to!

An angel?! Look at that bathroom! She's more like a goddess compared to my beloved. I don't get a quarter of that space and if my wife even sees a razor she threatens to throw it out, lol (unfortunately completely true!). You are truly blessed my friend.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I enjoy the space immensely. As I noted earlier, I keep the soaps and creams, about 30 in the rotation, in the open closet next to the sink — my Soap Cave — and take out the soap or cream I need for that morning's shave.
As for storing my razors with the tang down, it's a force of habit. Also, in a practical sense, that way minute amount of oil on the blade and the shank trickles down to the pivot and keeps it lubricated and helps prevent rust from developing. Of course, I keep the scales and the pivot area completely dry during the shave. Still, a wee bit of lubrication never hurts.

Thanks for the kind words, anthogia. The dearly beloved and I have been married 49 years. Indeed, she is a goddess.

I was wondering about this. I didn't see the spray paint line declaring the border of her side and my side like in my bathroom.. I'll have to wait a few 20 years before a bathroom frees up!

I'm moving next week, planning on buying a house, and my GF and I have already made a similar arrangement... I didn't even have to justify claiming a bathroom for myself because she actually brought it up first! (Ironically its not because of my shaving stuff, its because she is a bathroom hog in the morning.) either way, win-win!

Presumably the tang would be more resistant to a knock than the tip of the scales if the razor dropped slightly when returning it to its holder
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast
