    Default My new favourite!

    My first Wade & Butcher
    5/8 "Golden Concave"
    Buffalo horn scales

There is a crack in one of the horn scales near the pin that I haven't fixed yet (any tips on the best method?) and some deep pitting around the tail/tang. I am being extra careful while working on this one since it has huge sentimental value. I honed it after the pictures were taken, and it shaves wonderfully. Pictures taken with my Samsung Galaxy S3.

Nice razor porn. One of my favorite shapes. The photos are good but some of us have a need for more. So consider this a demand for the story behind the huge sentimental value.

Nice piece. Send a PM to Zak, (voidmonster). He has done some marvelous work repairing cracked ivory and horn scales. He can probably point you in the right direction.

really nice blade you have there! I'm a fan of shoulderless vintage blades and this one is definitely cool.

Thanks for the kind comments and suggestions. Here are a couple more pictures and the back-story.

I was too young when my granddad died to remember him. I'm often told that I'm a lot like him in some ways, and that we'd have gotten along really well. This razor was my granddad's favourite. It was passed on to my uncle after my granddad died and was stolen when my uncle's house was broken into. The day after the break in my uncle was looking through the garbage bins in his neighbourhood for the "worthless" items the thieves tossed during their getaway, he found it along with some of his other "worthless" possessions. A few days ago when I told my uncle that I use straight razors, he decided that I should have it.
