    Default A Fine Find!

Not on the same order of magnitude as Undream finding an Escher for 7 bucks, but not bad at all! Stopped by the local flea (tiny, only 20 vendors) to visit the old tool guy looking for a pair of tongs to take with me to school. Spotted this W&B Sheffield wedge in his "junk" drawer. now thats some Fine India Steel right there! I would have been embarrassed to try and talk him down from that price.

Sweet find, even better price. I look forward to seeing that one all cleaned up and ready to shave.

This one will have to wait until I get back from Maine. Its actually in nicer shape than the photo would imply. The fancy etch is very clear in person, and almost invisible in the pic. scales are solid, with no worm holes or cracks.
OH! I almost forgot! There were also a few large wood chisels, and a blade from a hand plane in various boxes, all marked W.Butcher Cast Steel with the Wade & Butcher cross and arrow logo. Anybody out there collect W & B that wants to add some fine wood tools to their collection, or looking for some hefty chunks of steel to forge out? (not that I advocate taking a good tool and destroying it for less than a really good reason)

No actual pattern in the steel, but it does have the fancy scroll work acid etching with the words Fine India Steel on it. It didn't show well in the photo, what your seeing is some of the swirls. Good eye!
