Cross One Off The List
Decided to stop by a local antique shop to see if any new razors and found a 5/8 King Razor Mfg. Co. The scales on it I have never seen before. They are holographic like the older baseball cards. Tried to show it in the photos. After getting it we started talking and I mentioned how I have been searching for a Aerial Cutlery Co. razor for quite awhile now since I grew up and live in the Menominee/Marinette area. He turned around and walked to his desk and said he has been saving this razor for a collector, but since he hasn't come by in awhile that I could take it if I wanted. I got excited right away and when I looked at it I got even more excited cause it was in great shape. I would have liked one with the pictures in the scales, but I am more than happy with this one. Won't have to do anything really to the Aerial, but the King will need some work. Brought them home and noticed that the Aerial was tree topping hairs so I disinfected it and gave it a good stropping and it still shaved beautifully. I will take it to one of my finishing stones still, but was surprised it still shaved. The Aerial made my day. Guess I can cross that one off my list of razors I want to get.

Thanked: 65If the scales of the KING sort of move as you turn them in the light it is "waterfall celluloid"

If they are celluloid, keep a close eye on it. Cell rot is no joke and can contaminate any razors in proximity. It does not appear that those scales are causing rot at this point, but you should just be alert in the future!
He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.

Thanked: 65Waterfall is VERY rare in my experience. What is also great about that find is the original boxes. I bet those only had one owner before you and the antique store.

Well I didn't want to know that. I was actually thinking of getting rid of the razor, but looks like I might have to keep it now. I keep trying to keep my number of razors down, but keep finding it harder and harder to let them go. Lately I have been able to get new ones only if I get rid of one in its place. Doesn't look like that is going to work anymore.
