I have a similar Razor, labeled Bourgade 334, its just the same Blanket as used by TI, LeGrelot, Espagnolette and some others, a very common Blade of the French 30s (and later).
I also wondered about the wedge of my Razor as it has also a notch and allows the Blade not much space (the Blade is 7/8"), but i think scales & wedge are original, as i got the Bourgade NOS.

I saw your razor pop up a few days ago and thought it looked very similar as well. There are minor differences but the spine work is a dead giveaway. I think that these were blanks that were purchased and processed further by smaller firms.

The only differences I see are the jimps on the spine and radius of the tang, the stamp and etching. Mine was close to 7/8 but there was some very small chipping along the blade so I had to hone that out which put me at about 13/16. I probably lost 1/32 to the chips. I would agree that everything is original. The filing of the wedge seems to be common practice.

We should be happy that these are vintage blades because nowadays the blanks would come from China and they wouldn't shave ice!

Hope yours shaves as well as mine! It is a beauty and smells of mint!!

    Best,

    Adam

Indeed both razors are very familiar, the scales and worked spine, the shape of the blade, both french, both fabricated in the same region, Thiers.

About the Bourgade 334 razor, The trade mark belongs to Leon Bourgade, 5 rue des Murrailles, Thiers, France. The first trademark registration for Leon Bourgade was in 1928 at the mentioned address.

The second trademark registration comes in 1943 same address, same trademark and maker. It is highly possible that both razor came from blanks, the similiarity is quite obvious.

Martin, I am impressed, thanks for tracking down this info for us.

Now I need to discover who made the blank originally. The razor feels and sounds like it is made of an alloy. This is my only French razor but when compared to my U.S., German, and U.K. razors it is lighter, gets water spots easier and has a different luster. IMO it is closer to the steel used in my swedish Klas Tornblum X razor.

I have two SREIHT brand straight razors. The first one I purchased was like new. It shaved so well that I bought a second one. It is larger (closer to 7/8") and it shaves like a dream. Both were sold on ebay as German razors. I learned from this thread that they are in fact French - makes since given the THIERS connection. Regardless, I think these are fabulous and underrated.

    Default SREIHT Pics

So here are the pics of my two SREIHT razors. The one on the left is a 6/8. The one on the right is closer to 7/8 and a very heavy hunk of metal. Both are excellent shavers. Sorry for the picture quality.
