Default J Duckworth of Bolton - "Duckworth's Celebrated B.P. Razor"

    Greetings earthlings,

Despite my professed fear of cut throat razors, I do seem to be acquiring them again....perhaps I've caught RAD from one of the forum members ?

Anyway, here's my latest purchase, signed "J Duckworth & Sons Bolton":-

I did promise myself that I'd only buy things for my core collection of Wigan items this year, but but but....Bolton is only a few miles from here and I couldn't let this poor razor have no bids on it.

Anyway, it arrived at my mum and dad's today so I thought I'd better share it with you.

I might go off to Bolton Library tomorrow and see if I can find an old trade directory there.

    Cheers,

    Andy

Many thanks for your kind words.

Although I didn't pay very much for the razor, I was a bit disappointed by its condition when it arrived.

The "slight water mark to top edge but undamaged blade" description should have mentioned the heavy areas of pitting.

Curiously enough, this is a lot more noticeable in my poor photographs than the ones in the advert.

Still, it's a nice piece of local history and I'm pleased to have it.

    Kind regards,

    Andy
