One of my sons, on telling him about SRP (he's a big forum of many types user), started to 'warn' me about how crappy and mean forums can be and that all people want to do is bait one another and start arguments. Where did my son become so negative about things (can always blame the ex, and I will)? In my working career I witnessed so much of the bad forum attitude in everyday dealings. I state here, and forever, SRP is not only the standout among forums because where else can two or more people disagree and then discuss it in humane terms and then get back to the business of lather, strop and shave, now known as LLS from this point on. I will start each day with a LLS for a DFS or a BBS, face my day with calm regard and finish the day with a beaker of fine cognac.
I agree with you and your son. I am a member on several different forums and SRP is by far the nicest one. I spend very little time, if any, on the other forums now since it is much more enjoyable to be here. On some forums it is hard to find a thread where no one is arguing and calling the other members for all sorts of things. On SRP I have yet to find a single thread where anyone haven't been nice to other members. You do come across misinterpretations like the one above but it never gets nasty. One can only ponder on the reason for this. Is it because we all share this hobby that unites us in some way, that keep us from wanting to get in to any unpleasantness? What ever the answer to that question is I know one thing, and that is that I like this forum and it's members very much.

    Here Here Richard!

I'd been to other forums and not even knowing what a 'forum' was and was dissapointed to say the very least!

Then I stumbled upon SRP and my life 'Literally Changed'!! I've learned so much thanks to the fellowship, friendship and the help and advice that I've received and I've tried to repay those that helped me by helping others who are trying to learn!!

While I can't respond to every Newbie Post saying that they have just joined, when I do find one I usually post this:

Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!

You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!

I hope this sums up my position about how I feel about SRP!!

Cud and Ludvig, I'll say it again. It is amazing to me how so many people from almost every culture and backgrounds, and I mean every c & b, can come together and get to know one another without breaking into out and out war over the trivial sometimes is beyond me. What this site does for us is to remind us daily that we are human and need no strife to achieve our goals. I am far from a pacifist but SRP gives me hope that what we have could possible spill over into the mainstream and calm the world down. Don't say it, I will, we all have to have a few pipedreams to get by or we would all go as insane as the rest of the world.

You certainly weren't, I thought the idea was good, but also just more fluff and distraction.

Let's take our razors and laptops to the streets to make the world a better place
It is definitely true that the community here is a nice bunch of fellers, who will quietly suggest that you are out of line rather than shout you down. I have had the odd P.M. Which I really appreciate, I think it's an indication of the type of folks that we are.
It brings workplace dressings down etc to mind, you get the boss who shouts at you in front of everyone, and the one who will quietly take you to one side and tell you what is wrong, the latter always wins my respect.
