Excellent - question would be, how many strops do you have to have to qualify?

I don't see a Kanayama in there Robin, have you ever tried one? They are impeccable. I have both a vintage Pelican Kanayama and a modern # 3, both are wonderful.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

It really does not matter, does it? Each acquisition disorder is a medical condition, and should be treated as such, should it not? I find it quite disturbing how some people take such mental disorders lightly. They should give everybody cause for concern instead.

I have a piece of horse's butt that does everything that needs to be done. I thought it was going to be a temporary thing but all the high dollar strops I have seen and tried do the same thing. Best 10 bucks I ever spent. I will get pics of my other vintage strops when I get them cleaned up. Some are noisier than others, this is true and the soft linen I took off an old classic is my favorite. Quietly cleans the razor before it hits my fine leather.

As your bank clerk will tell you (depending on your country of origin), the journey is its own reward. Yes, they are supremely expensive. Yes, they will teach you how to operate a washing machine; no, they will not outperform the other strops.

So, if you can get one for $50-80, sure, why not. If you live in the US, get an SRD English bridle if you have a few more bucks to spend. Kanayama strops are to high performance strops what Japanese "natural" hones are to high performance hones. Nice to look at in pictures. If you want proper performance, get it elsewhere. Unless you have money to burn, in which case a Kanayama is a great investment.

Next, behold the marketing power of the vintage Kanayama strops...
