Default Unwanted Spaces in SOTD posts

I am pretty green at posting in SOTD, but it is my favorite section of the Forum so with a little push I gave it a try....this has led me to learn more about photography which has been fun (and frustrating). But my question is a persistent problem for me. When I am putting in the shave bill, I get spaces between some of the items. When composing the post everything looks fine...no spaces between lines. But the post will show spaces. I don't know how to fix this and would like to know what I am doing wrong so I can compress the shave bill info centered, just above the centered pic I am posting. Thanks in advance....I hope this makes some sense.

I looked at you SOTD today (very nice!) and it looks great. I see you have 3 different fonts, sizes, and colors in the text.
There are spaces between each. Is this what you mean? It could be a result of changing fonts/sizes? I do know as inserting a smiley it will take up a space. Perhaps changing fonts/sizes does the same?

    I rest my case.

I am thinking the 'remove format' button will enable you to do some things. Perhaps someone who knows can elaborate?

Sometimes even I have to manually delete empty space. Especially when I add an image. It's just the erratic nature of the software and formatting at times. That's why it's easy to switch between source code and WYSIWYG mode before submitting your final post.
I also noticed from your post in the SOTD the use of the center tag too often. This will in general add an empty space line. If you are going to center everything It's always best to start with one opening center tag [CENT*R] and close with one center tag. [/CENT*R]. Larger fonts can also add extra space. In any case most of the time it's just the editor doing it's own thing. I never have issues when I write code in plain text or even dreamweaver.

It's funny you mention that. I am still bummed and frequently think about leaving my typewriter behind when I did my big move to the US. Thought I'd never have any need for it. I guess it's getting older and nostalgia starting to kick in.

Thanks Max. I'm one of those who don't know a kilowatt from an Ohm, and just flip the switch and call it good.
