I'd love to pay for a paper calendar with the best pics into the Forum.
    My preferred sections are:
    • Shave Of The Day
    • Custom Buils & Restorations
    • The Forge
    • The Brushmaker Alcove

Maybe not for coming New Year ... but in the future?!?!

If we get about 15 high resolution pictures that are suitable for printing (one for each month plus I think there could be few more for the covers) I can certainly set it up in the 'SRP goods' store.

I think that's the easiest because it's all handled by zazzle and printed on demand - there is no need to figure out costs inventories and such. I saw several different sizes and the $20 ballpark.
A contest for each section and more than one calendar.

As an exercise in problem solving, I like to contemplate all aspects of any given hypothetical. Thus, a thought comes to mind. Considering that these calendars would obviously be a welcome addition to one's shave den, we must consider at least some sort of waterproofing. Bathrooms are very humid, after all. Lamination might be a bit too expensive. Would giving the calendar a glossy finish add some moisture protection? Probably depends on the material/chemicals used to make the gloss coating.

Also, I'm unfamiliar with zazzle, but I assume customization options are available. Making the glossy finish optional would help with total number of sales. For those of us budget minded enough to prefer spending money on real razors, instead of printouts . That is to say, some might consider such a novelty until presented with the high price of a premium, nearly indestructible calendar. "...why would I pay that much for a calendar? I'd rather have a new-to-me vintage razor... of, there is a basic version for about $20? Sure; why not? SWMBO will barely bat an eye at that cost... "

    Just collaborating on some ideas....

A thread for each month with 30 days to enter photos only. Then each member will have 30 days to vote by post number on a vote thread for that month. One person to tally each month totals. I could do a month tally...

Any calendar has to include pics from these gentlemen (in no particular order), whose SOTD pics I look forward to on a daily basis:

    - Evnpar
    - Celticcrusader
    - Celestino
    Tony

There is already the SOTD, maybe the post with the most likes per month in that thread? Would help get more members interested posting there. For the covers and back page, why not have a vote from custom builds and restorations.

This seems pretty reasonable to me. I'm busy enough, though, so either get Bruno to write the script that will extract the likes per post for these posts, then sort them to get the most popular each month, or somebody else can script it from the webpages instead of the database (or for really low tech solution just go through them manually and count - to me it's a complete waste of human time but will get the job done if a skilled labor to automate it is in short supply).
Then somebody will have to contact the respective posters to obtain high-resolution versions (at 300dpi on a4/letter you want something on the order of 2500 by 3500). And if they have no such quality move to the next on the list (or make a collage of several images).

In short, it's pretty straightforward but it takes meaningful amount of work and one person to be in charge of coordination even if the work is split among several. And if that person is not a moderator somebody from the staff must be kept in the loop.

Maybe a separate calendar thread asking for pictures that meet those requirements/catagories of entries beforehand and counting the likes might make things easier?

I could do grunt work emailing/uploading photos or manually counting if we have to. Would think a mod could wrangle us since they have access and know folks with abilities like coding and such.

If there is no risk with zazzle and it's a by order basis we should have a win-win on this thing and should go for it. We just need someone to run with it and I don't have the skill set or knowledge.

In my experience the more moving parts the less chance anything happening.
That's why I like using the already existing gallery threads with pictures - it's all there, already organized by date and voted on. All that it's missing other than tallying it up is the high-resolution format and that can be done with just one person.

We already have the store set up with zazzle and if I have the photos setting up few different calendars should take me no more than 2-3 hours, which I will do if we get to that point. Or somebody else can set up a different store if they want to do that work, though the one we have already has a lot more visibility and should be better.
