Go to you user settings at the top right of the screen. In the menu on the left go to 'general settings'. Find "Default Thread Subscription Mode:" Select "do not subscribe"
You'll still be able to subscribe to individual threads you select through the 'thread tools' button on the toolbar above, but you won't automatically be subscribed to threads you've posted in.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

As Jimmy said there is a way to prevent from getting 100% of any additions to what you posted.
HOWEVER;
There is something to think about and that is being updated on a thread that you started a while ago OR a thread that you would like to follow. If you get set up to where once you post your DONE then you are DONE!
Every once in awhile I find a thread that I have no input but would like to see what others have to say so I just chime in telling other just that! So then I get updates to the thread.
You might consider that instead having a Total Ban on receiving what others post and just use the link that is always sent you allowing you to no longer receive posts from that thread.
It's easy; just click on it and you should be redirected back to the home page.
It works for me; It might work for youLast edited by cudarunner; 03-16-2016 at 11:04 PM.
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 1587Well, first it is not spam since it is not irrelevant (you posted to that thread, so by definition it is relevant to you) or unsolicited (the control for these emails is in your hands).
To turn it off from the control panel, go to settings (top right of the page, near the logout link), go to the "My Settings" box in the left hand side panel of the resulting page, and select "General Settings" from the "My Account" section.
If you scroll down there to the "Default Thread Subscription Mode" it will probably say "Instantly, using email". That's why I said these emails are not unsolicited - you are asking the software to send these to you and you are in complete control of that.
Anyway, if you click on that selection box you'll see your options - they range from turning off subscriptions completely to only seeing subscribed threads in your control panel, to getting a single big batched email each day or each week.

Oh and BTW, what you are receiving is not spam. It is a response to a thread you are subscribed to.
As has been suggested, you may simply unsubscribe. JMHO"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

I like green eggs and spam
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place
