Did you guys get withdrawal symptoms from not being able to use the forum? Did it mess up your daily routine? :-)

It was down about a week ago, as well. For like half a day, right?

Occasionally the forum software/database needs to be updated/upgraded or go into maintenance mode. Either way there's always going to be a downtime regardless as the forum needs to be offline. There can always be hardware issues too regarding the server. This is not a PC or Mac update that automatically downloads, updates, reboots after a few minutes and you're done.

Fair enough, my good sir.
I just remembered something while reading your post, about the downtime from about a week ago. The blacksmithing forum that I lurk on was also down during the same period. I suspected it was a problem with vBulletin. But I could not find any official information about "server status", etc. (Kind of like the Xbox Live support site has a page dedicated to up/down status of various services.) So all I was left with was speculation, and not much to fill the boredom with...Decades away from full-beard growing abilities.

Maybe the real reason why it was down is like a quote I read by Allan Watts years ago, he was referring to Buddhism, "Those who say don't know, those who know don't say."
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Just a simple SNAFU. Happens all the time when dealing with computer systems.
