I for one, would pay $5 to get my username changed.

I run a board as well thats completely user funded. I let them donate to get a larger inbox and be able to change their user titles. Every once in a while we do a fund raiser or a raffle to replenish the pot when its running low. It's also a common thing to only let contributors post classifieds.
