It does work, but I'm getting "Mixed content" warning, and something about non-encrypted images. Hope it helps to debug.

That's not really a bug, unfortunately.
When people include in their posts images from other sites those would use the connection to that site and it may not be encrypted.

It's easy enough to disable this behavior so that only images which come from encrypted connections would show and images from non-encrypted connections wouldn't.
I just did it if you want to take a look.

However, it is a matter of some pages either:
    (1) do not show some of the images included from external sites
    or
    (2) display the 'mixed content' warning

The two things are mutually exclusive at this point and I'm OK with either way. The question is what does the majority prefer?

I don't know what has changed, but I stopped getting these "mixed content" warnings, and now it's fully secured and verified. Good job!

I put a block on anything that's not using encrypted connection, i.e. option (1) in my previous post.

I too am not sure what does the majority prefer, but I think this solution is the correct one as far as the security concerned.
