Default This Opening Post Is the Issue Being Discussed In Post # 2.

You could go either way, finish on a hard Ark and then add the tape for just a few laps to create a micro/Nano bevel, or finish on another stone, say a 12k super stone, then add the tape and do a few laps to add an Ark micro bevel.

Recently there was a post about how to apply a micro bevel on a Hart, here,

(Zowada, Nano bevel). (Beginning with post 7)

And I recall that Alex Gilmore was doing something similar with Scotch Tape on a Jnats with just 2-3 laps. (At about 1837). He also has some good micrographs of the micro bevel edge.

    The Issue At hand

I had read on one of the knife forums that guys were taping blades with clear packing tape to protect the blade from scratching on knife jigs, like the Edge Pro, because it was tougher and thinner than masking tape.

They recommended the tape sold at USPS as being the toughest. I have used it, and it is tough, but most any clear tape will work, some are thicker than others and all are thinner than electrical.

Bottom line, it does not take much to create a Micro bevel on an Ark or any stone. Remember we cannot see the actual edge with less than 1,000 X. It has been described a “knocking off the corners” but really you are polishing the very edge, the fin.

    Default Pasting a link

    Pasting a link

Why does sometimes when I copy and paste a link into a post, does the link post normally, (underlining the link topic) and other times, actually post the video.

Here is an example of this in a recent post. I am copying and pasting using the link icon in the Reply to Thread task bar, but the results are different.

    Post 11.

Because some of the Vids are from Youtube and they are a different type of link

It works the same way on most platforms

When this happens on the forum, its due to loading both the "Link to the video" and "The video itself" on the same line in the content box/edit box.

    This happens in two ways;
The OP actually wants to see both in the post. Don't know why .
    or,,,
The OP thinks that he has to load both. Then places both on the same line. The OP gets a bit confused & adds the video by using both the "Link" button and then uses the "insert video" button.

When placing a video in your post, just use the "insert video" button to place it. This displays your video only & not another hyper link to the same destination.

In this case I uploaded the link to both, as Links. The link to SRP posted hyperlinked fine. The video did not and displayed the video in the post.

I have had this happen before. I always use the link insert, not load the video, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

It is not a big problem, I feel a post is easier to read without the video in the middle of it and the reader can open the link if he chooses.
I was wondering if it was me or a programing issue, as Glen said?

    Thanks.

The hyperlink was the address to the video, that's fine. Then you added the video.

This problem happens a lot, it's an operator issue but the same result is caused by placing the two on the same "text line/sentence"; this causes the thread to look like crap & sends the user's tools at the bottom of the post block, up & to the right. This almost always results in no or fewer "Likes or Thanks" for the work the poster has done.

Either way, this particular post was fixed.
