    Default Authentication problems

I've been running into a weird thing. Whenever I'm logged in on the SRP forums, and try to access any page outside the forums (the home page, any faq pages, etc). I'm getting a javascript error message saying "_NOT_AUTH". If I log out, and try to get to the same page it works just fine.

Edit: Looks like it's only happening when I use Opera. No big deal, but still a bit weird that I'm getting authentication errors on pages which don't require you to be logged in...

The SRP site is comprised of a number of software packages (eg, the vBulletin forum, the Joomla Content Management System, Noah classifieds, Zoom media Gallery, etc.) Some require a login, so we have installed "bridges" between them allowing a common login to be used for all components... but there are some caveats:

Are you checking the "remember me" checkbox? If not, things won't "bridge" correctly between the various areas of the site. (see http://straightrazorpalace.com/showthread.php?t=10564 )

If you are checking the "remember me" checkbox, then other things to investigate are 1)you must have cookies enabled, 2)java/javascript must be enabled, 3)if you have a firewall, nothing relating to .straightrazorplace.com can be blocked, and 4)if you are running an ad blocker, try disabling it to see if that helps... they sometimes interfere.

If all that fails, post additional details about your configuration... ie, what OS you're using (eg, winXP, winVista, Linux, etc.) and what browser you're using (eg, IE, FireFox, etc.). Include the version numbers if you know them (eg, winXP sp2, IE 7.0.5730.11, Linux - Ubuntu 7.04).

Hmm. It actually looks like it went away. Perhaps I just needed to log out and back in again, or something. Can't think of what else might have changed...

If it comes back I'll let you know.
