Thanked: 603Uploaded Images Resized
With the demise of a "free" Photobucket, I decided to upload my SOTD/FOTD images to SRP. Well, to my surprise (and dismay), my 900x675 [h/w] are automatically resized to 500x375.
Bug? Feature? Workaround??
PS: The original image is a JPEG-compliant file, 891.5 kB (891459 bytes) in size. You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

Yes, the images are resized, both to not mess up the layout and to not fill up the disk space unnecessarily.
The software is over 7 years old now, so it doesn't have the best technology to do these things.
If you use landscape orientation you'll be able to utilize the space better.

It seems our pics are resized as they hit the forum to save space?
Also remember, JB, that your lovely Featured SOTD was applied to the front page by Max, likely to fit his space and liking!
He changes most of mine in some way when I garner the feature.
It's all for the good, eh?
So that Feature is sweet! Kudos!
I have a Spike like that! Is there a better razor? Nah!Last edited by sharptonn; 04-17-2018 at 01:25 AM.

Yes, pictures are resized when you upload them. Doesn't matter how big they are, they are resized while maintaining aspect ratio, until they fit both the horizontal and vertical image size limits.
Ivan mentioned the layout issue, and that is because our VB is quite old. Xenforo (and maybe recnt versions of VB) has a more modern approach: No matter how big it is, it will always be displayed in a way that makes it fit the screen, and when you click on it you see the full sized image. But even there, admins will usually set a limit because large images take up a LOT of diskspace, and diskspace is very costly.
Fwiw, that's why I use local images only for things like workshop pictures, work in progress, things like that. And for high resolution pictures of my blades, I use imgur.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
