I’m surprised I’m on the first page actually.
Some of you gents span all the threads, keep the entire site lively.
Me, I just lurk in the workshop and bbq threads mostly.
These days, reading far more than posting..

There are threads that I will stumble upon and simply read but will not comment.
Often because I know too little of the particular subject and am still learning to shut up, sometimes because my contribution would simply echo what others had already said so I just like and thank.
But sometimes I feel like a new member chiming in where it's not his place, like at Thanksgiving dinner at a friend's house..
In regard to the rift that happened when I was gone, I'll say that it was a very terrible feeling to type in SRP into the address bar and find that this special place was gone.
    Very terrible feeling.
When I realized you were all still here I shouted out loud, YES!
Sometimes I'm a bit of an idiot, say stupid things, still learning that old saying "Don't miss a good opportunity to shut up"... in the end I realize why we are here. A common interest that brings us together, and through that some great friendships are gained.
As far as number of posts, I admit that I've looked at likes and thanks for a feeling of my own acceptance, but I shouldn't.
But the number of posts, I usually see those high numbers and think "dang this guy is a veteran of the craft".
And the years active, as a brotherhood I feel that I'm a little late on.
Hopefully my life allows me more time with you gentlemen, and hopefully you can put up with me long enough to get past my quirks.
    Sorry that was so long!

Michael — the nice thing about SRP is everyone is welcome to the table! It is a blessing that we feel like family, when most of us have never met each other!

We are truly a living and vibrant community. Some people have been here from the beginning, others have just joined, some have taken short or extended breaks, some have left and don't think they'll ever return.
But it's a special place, where as Harold said everyone is welcome like at the family table.
What brought us here is our shared hobby, but I think that's not what keeps us here. I think what binds us is our values and sharing our lives with each other

It's fun to look at numbers but I know that everyone is here because they enjoy being here and that's what's important. Some post a lot, others read a lot, some check in on occasion, others daily or even hourly. To me it's all good since each of us is unique and in a unique situation - this is what makes each of us irreplaceable, why we need each other and why together we make a community that's better than any of us alone

Ok well let’s not forget that the names on that page are only the names of men who have posted in the last 6 months. Who knows what would happen if we had all the greats from the past like edhewitt back on the list.

Wait! No, you’re still there one the first page just below 10Pups. I miss that guy!

If you are reading a thread concerning something you know not much about and feel too intimidated to post, remember a question you may have is probably on the minds of who knows how many other members or lurkers and either they can't post or won't for one reason or another.

So the point is, at one time everyone here was totally ignorant about everything related to straights and wet shaving and we all had to learn from the bottom up. When I started these sites didn't exist and I wish they had.

So, ask question and fear not.

What didnt i understand? All of it. Im no english teacher and far from being able to spell and write complete sentences, but that was beyond my understanding. Caps all over the sentence just thru me off big time.

Mike T. I feel sometime when a newbie asks a question and if the first guy that answers him is right on the money, than i will commend with agrement. I think this give the OP more convidence that the answer to his question was a good one and not just the ranting of one person. I do still think i need to hold my tongue more often but it so fun to post. Most the time im just trying to help. Other times ...

Harold, that was a great thing to say and i feel the same way. Hell, ive been accepted here and feel i have some good brothers that i feel close to and have never met. I hope to fix that some day. You folks are very close to me.

Im still only #38 on the list. Damn!

And thanks Mikeb52. I just dont know when to quit. Although honing kicked me to the curb a lot of times before i really understood what the hell i was doing

IT's cool, Jerry...I have so many posts because I am ridiculously consistent.

I have learned a great deal in my membership here.

Point is to join in and get some posts in exactly like you have done. The fact you are a mentor here speaks volumes.
All about learning and having fun!

A little help with this please. So i write it down on paper, stuff it down in the bottom of my coffee cup and put it on the retractable cup holder. Ok, but its too big at that point to retract and go in the computer. Maybe im missing something.
Geezer, whoever, MikeT and 1 others like this.
