Yup, we live in a polarized world wrt to many subjects. Sad man sad.

On one thing we all agree, SRP is THE best site devoted to the art and craft of wet shaving, and all things related -- SE, DE, SR, or machete! Glad to be among you!
Back to salt for a second...

Its the members that make this place what it is.
I judge a man by whether id have a beer with them. If I ever make it across the pond Id have to get a good few rounds in. :beer1:
If you made it across the pond you would need a month to have a cold one with all the good members ovdr here. And HBD Mark! Whipper-snapper.
Ya, Mark is 40! Happy Birthday!
No more sympathy for him! ;)
Definitely, Jerry. And a few nice room temp English ales. :D
Yeah, I got one of his 6x2x1 convex black trans arks. Though it took a great deal of burnishing and breaking in, I have used it for both razors and knives with stellar (and very quick) results, especially on warped or seriously smiling razors. I just had to find out for myself, and it's now another rock in my arsenal.
I haven't posted about it on here because I don't give a flip who thinks they work or don't work unless they actually have one they have tried (though I have traded pm's with a couple of other users-we have a secret club).
That is one thing I think we could very much learn from the other forum: i.e., being less dogmatic and more open to experimentation with different honing techniques.
I'm going to go hone my Gold Dollar with tape on my convex hone now-y'all have fun honing whichever way works best for you.
edit: I hope that you don't think that was aimed at you, Marty. We all know that you are constantly testing and experimenting and sharing your detailed, quantified results with all of us, and I appreciate it. It's just a larger observation about the forum culture here sometimes. (Now back to Kum-ba-ya around the campfire).
Happy birthday Mark. I'm hoisting one in your honor even as we speak.
