Thread: Webchat home link

Hi folks, long time no post!

We are still alive in the old IRC webchat (linked to from the top of the SRP homepage). Sure, it's not Doc's Cave or the inline chat where we used to compare BBS faces to Olga's legs, but it's still home!

Recently, there has been some hubbub on the freenode network where our live chat took up residence back in 2008: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021...ince-of-korea/ A few chatters have expressed desire to move to the newly-formed Libera IRC network, which is being manned and womanned by most of the old freenode team. Several SRP chatters have packed their bags to the new one already, so I'd like to request the webchat link to be updated to: https://web.libera.chat/?channels=##srp

I'm not sure whether we need to gather opinions at large as we're not a huge branch of the community, but if anyone has any please feel free to share them here or in chat. The more active folks including myself have either moved or are joining at both places temporarily.

I'm laying down managing of the chat on freenode as of today and unofficially picking it up on libera now. That was a long 13 year chapter of chat It has slowed down a lot in recent years, but we still have a few regulars and occasional newcomers. Hope to see more folks there now and then!

We need the help of the administrator, only he can change the link to the chat.

I'm not computer savvy enough to even know what you guys are talking about. But, I agree that Ivan is the man needed for this. Maybe one of the Mods can help too but... Good luck.

If you haven't already send him an E-Mail. Only he can make the change though I think Glen has been involved in the social end of things.
