    Default Thread/post deleting.

Just a thought but is there anyway to delete a thread, like in BST if all items are sold, im asking this because things that arent sold and of course things that are are just left to accumulate.
I personally would love to be able to delete my thread if my razors are sold.

I wonder if there is a way to make this self regulating , like a part of User CP, saying delete thread, of course BST is ideal for that but not any other thread.

    Just an idea, regards,simon

Personally, I would prefer that the threads not be deleted. Those threads allow members to go back and look at other razors that have sold in order to get a better idea of their value. Like it or not, the buying and selling of razors are a part of the knowledge base provided by this forum and the deletion of some of those threads would diminish it.

    Default Post Deletion

Good point there however many items that remain unsold which some of the newer members may benefit from get shoved away quickly sometimes because of constant posting on some items, im not disagreeing with you just that gathering information is a good thing, but sometimes sold items stay up there for a good while while other things get put to the back so to speak, maybe an archive would have been a better suggestion.

    coully,

I'm on Utopian's side on this one. I'm a great fan of clutter and deleting the old unsolds and the newer solds would only serve to straighten things up: this is bad, bad, bad for those of us who have, at the bottom of a stack, somewhere, newspapers dating back to when we first learned to read.

So moderators, when the uptake of a message is slow and one thinks because of the slowness that the posting did not occur, and one hits the submit button again, and then wants to delete the superfluous and redundant message, where is the delete button --- hmmm? Or should I just be happy that I have been able to be the reason for the accumulation of more clutter?

Even if the prices aren't current I often go back to look at the pics. The photos are of value to me but I do understand the question. I would rather the seller just post a sold post. It would be nice to be able to go back and get rid of double posts or something that I have said that is really stupid after reading it.

Actually i think that if you edit a post you have the option to delete it, if you go into the "advanced mode" now that i am looking it looks like the option to delete is not longer avaialbe... perhaps Dave is working on this again... it used to be there i used it earlier this week.

    Default Post Deleting.

Im glad there is some discussion on this, Utopian made a good point, im not against clutter by any means either but the more I think about it an archive would be better...so people can refer to older posts and pictures, a feature to move stuff would be a good idea from that point of view.

Editing the posts is great but it disappears with the addition of a few comments, but it would be great if it stayed there so if the thread starter saw fit he could delete or archive.

AS always gents a great discussion, with extremely valid points, i appreciate it

    regards,simon

I believe you can edit the post titles. How about if the poster goes back and edits the title of his post to add SOLD at the end. That way the post remains if someone wants to view it but if your looking to buy you can skip that one?

I was pretty sure the delete post used to be under the Advanced settings as well. It may have been disabled when the forum software was upgraded.

If you want to get moderator attention on a particular post, just click that orange triangle under the poster's name. I would offer to delete one of the two in this thread, but then this conversation becomes a bit disjointed.

Alternatively, if I'm online, I should be in Flashchat, just come in there and I'll be happy to help in whatever way I'm able.
