Thanked: 156Classifieds - international shipping
Is it possible to add a surcharge for international shipping with the buy it now option? Less confusion that way and international buyers don't have to worry about whether the seller will ship to them and if so if there is a surcharge and how to get it to the seller.

I don't think so. For razors and other small items that weigh only few oz, it costs pretty much the same to ship first class anywhere in the world (may be $1 difference at most), so I just do that. Getting compensated for the extra time I have to spend by going to the post office and filling out a customs declarations would make international shipping prohibitively expensive, so I do it for free.
If you want to charge more you can do either of
- ask for additional payment before you ship, as long as your ad is clear that should not be a problem with the buyer.
- put the higher price and then refund the difference if the buyer is in US
- leave the immediate payment option disabled and when the buyers contact you about the ad give them the correct amount along with your paypal address.Last edited by gugi; 04-25-2009 at 11:12 PM.

Thanked: 317I agree with gugi in principle, but people do sell other items here. A set of hones or other special equipment for restoration, which I've seen a few times, can cost a great deal to ship internationally.
