    Default Hone Clubs?

I made a joke about hone clubs in Sparq's thread about his incoming Charnley forest, but I think it might actually be a cool idea. We have the razor clubs with beautiful pictures of blades based on their make or other attributes, why not do something similar for hones?

Is such an endeavor feasible? Would there be any interest? It might make a good resource for hone identification... but with all the variations it could become rather... messy.

You can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs..... wasn't it Donald Rumsfeld who said that ? No matter..... messy or not I concur. We HADiccts are being discriminated against. No club to call our own. I remember when I first came around Chris L suggesting a coticule club if I'm not mistaken. With all of the naturals and new synthetics that have surfaced in the past year not to mention the plethora of barber hones it seems to me to be an idea whose time has come. Now how does one go about it ?

My first thought was to set it up as a subsection of the "honing" section and let members start threads, just like the razor clubs. But maybe some sort of established parent threads would be a good idea? Maybe letting it run for a bit and restructuring as necessary would be better?

For example, my first thought was that all barber hones should be in one club, but then I thought that maybe Swaty's could have their own club (since there are so many variants). Who's to say which would be better until it's tried out?

Well I have four color variations of Escher labeled hones, a dozen coticules with half of them being visually somewhat unique. My two Charnleys, some unidentified hones compliments of Sticky. There are so many barber hones I couldn't begin to count them. See Lynn's video for a table full of them. Just as in the Boker or Duck club or in your 'stub tailed shavers' members could just jump in with whatever they wanted to contribute the way I envision it.

Yup, after giving it a bit of thought, I agree with you there. I think it will fill itself out and be useful in some way, especially since there seems to be a correlation between lots of rocks and lots of posts...

I'd find a hone club great as well.
Actually I took pictures of some of mine just last weekend.

I have my HAD under good control, but I support the idea! It would be nice to have the pictures and stories of our rocks under one roof.

Well just as Razor Clubs is a sub forum in Razors can we prevail on David Wessel to set up a sub forum called Hone Clubs in the Hones forum? We now have basic and advanced honing. Hone Clubs could be added . I'll PM David and see what he says.

Good memory, Jimmy. It took awhile to find it, but here is the link to the unofficial Belgian Brotherhood

Debuted with my beautiful green coticule/BBW 8"x3" natural. It's a hard coti like glass and can put a polish on edges like a dream.
