Set your screen resolution to 1024*768 and you will suddenly see the light.
That is still the 'standard' resolution we design for afaik. And at that resolution, the screen was filled when those buttons were there.

Bruno, I'm not trying to be argumentative. I for one have never accessed 'Webcast'. Rarely accessed 'Reviews' or 'Community'. I must have hit 'New Post' thousands of times. I don't really care about having to do two mouse clicks to access 'User CP' as seldom as I need to get there but 'New Posts' ?

It is probably the most used button on the tool bar by the majority of the members here. IMHO moving it was a mistake. It could be easily corrected and it ought to be. BTW, my previous post where I referred to repetitive stress relative to the added mouse clicks was not a spurious consideration.

fortunately for me, I had one of the old threads open when the changes were made. All I have to do is have 2 tabs open when I close Firefox and I can save them forever (at least as long as I have the same computer).

I am happy to have a temp solution for firefox now,
by installing the greasemonkey addon
and the script scoof thankfully wrote for it,

but since not everybody is using firefox,
it would really be better to bring those buttons back on.

I used to say that while all progress is change, not all change is progress; however, considering that my job is ultimately controlled by politicians, who all know are as fickle as the winds, and those who report to them, I now have learned to say that change is good.

As an IT professional I have to say that all of the complaints are valid and should be given strong consideration. When I logged into SRP this morning I was lost w/o the new post menu selection and was unaware of the changes.

The best IT professionals I know are the ones that listen to the clients and not the ones that justify their actions over the complaints and are creative enough to accommodate all the needs at the same time.

SRP is a great place because of the users here and their input. A lot of the people complaining here post a lot and are very helpful. Are you sure these are the people you want to alienate?

For what it's worth, the New Posts Bookmark idea, even if it does work (which I don't think it does based on my prior experience with this stuff), is silly to have to do. Why should I have to bookmark a button on one of my favorite sites when it was always available to me while it was becoming one of my favorite sites? You guys know the statistics of which buttons get hit the most, and considering that my question wasn't answered earlier, I'm assuming "new posts" isn't anywhere near the bottom of that list of buttons.

This is the first time that I've ever heard of making frequently used features HARDER to access. Usually it's the exact opposite.

That is unobstrusive enough not to matter, and out of the way of the button bar.
