Default Question about referring to vendors

I'm hoping a moderator or some other type of admin can answer this question for me:

What's the rule on referring to vendors' products, prices, deals, promotions, etc.?

I ask this because I see a lot of newbies, myself included, asking where they can get razors, sets, or what-have-you. Is it OK to say: "******.com has a great deal on razors, that's where I got mine."

I'm not asking so I can plug my favorite vendor or my own website into a post, but I would like to share things like that if it helps out other members. In fact, I was just about to type in a website I've gone to, but refrained just in case it's not kosher.

    Thanks for your help!

I'm neither mod nor admin but you can recommend vendors. The only exception is that you not post the prices. I didn't see it anywhere so take it as unwritten rule mate.

With regards to promotions and such that goes in the Vendor section. But you must contact Dwessel first to become vendor.

    Hope that helps.

That's a good question indeed. I still make mistakes. I refer people to vendor's all the time, it's never been a problem. As previosly stated, I don't think you mention price. You can say, They have a good deal, I believe. We need O_S to chime in. He'd be the one to ask, really...

I do refer people to vendors if I think I'm steering them in the right direction. Especially new members who have enough on their plate without trying to figure out who, what and where. I think the important thing is that we don't favor one vendor over another and include options.

IOW, if I am recommending a razor for a beginner I will mention SRD, Classic, Vintage and Ruprazor. If it is for a member outside of the USA it will be The Invisible Edge for UK guys or Rasurpur for European members. So I think that as long as we're not spamming the forum it is appropriate to recommend a vendor if someone is inquiring as to where they can find an item.

Edit; Lest I forget for Canadian members I would be remiss if I failed to mention Scott at Rasage Poulin. I've gotten good service from him. Also all of the vendors I steer others to are those who help support this forum. For me that is a prerequisite for shaving related items if I am going to recommend them. For non shave related I don't draw that distinction. Just another 2 bits to the conversation.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Yeah, I don't plan on spamming or selling my own stuff.

There are a few vendors that I've had good experiences with and would recommend, but it's a small list since I've just started out. For me, when other members keep mentioning certain vendors or products in a positive light, I know I can expect a good product or good service so I put them on the list to give 'em a try.

    Thanks again for the feedback!
