How do i use the search function?
Let's say I want to tie two words together to narrow down the search.
I can't figure it out. Nothing I try works.
Just a space between, nope.
Use a dash, nope.
Parenthesis, nope.
OK, I'll admit it. I'm computer stupid. Ebay seems to work so well with no hidden tricks but every forum I join seems to have different rules for how thier search function works.
I can't figure this one out.
Every forum seems to have that one guy that always jumps in with "You should use the search function first before you waste everyone's time" so jump on here and school my dumb butt.

Thanked: 1903vBulletin's search is ... not very good. What you are looking for is "a AND b". Not sure whether this works reliably, because I always use google with the site:straightrazorplace.com/forums trick, cf. Basic search help : Google search basics - Web Search Help.
Young Ben wrote a search plugin for Firefox, but I cannot find it right now.

OK, First thanks for trying to help. I've looked at the two links and still don't see a basic "here's how you use this dang thing" explaination.
Talk to me like I'm an old man who refuses to learn something new. Or a small distracted child.
Keep it simple guys.
I just tried "red AND imp" and got nothing. I know this can't be true because I've just, in the last few days seen the Red Imp's talked about so I know they're out there.
I'm still not getting it. Just drag me "kicking and screaming" into the computer age.
Believe it or not, I use to be the "computer expert" at my work. Of course, that was because I read the book "DOS for Dummies" back when DOS 3.0 was popular. I've since been left in the dust.
I can learn. I just don't have the time to do the research for myself and want help.

That's because the search function treats AND as a search term, and also because it won't look for three-letter search terms such as "red", "and", and "imp"
use google instead

OK, the "use google instead" link actually helped.
It just kills me that you have to leave a site to do a search of the site. Kind of like having to click start to turn off a computer.
But, armed with this new knowledge (provided it sticks in the old brain-case) I'll start searching some of the stuff I've been a'lookin' fer.
Thanks for putting up with me.
