Default Editing Classified Ad - Adding Pics

    Hi All,

I recently posted a Classified in the Straight Razor section and selected 5 pics to upload from my iPhoto library. I submitted the ad and got an error message that the files were too large.

I went back and resized the images in my library, and selected the new smaller images using the browse button in the listing. Again hit submit and the ad posted but there were no pics there.

I would like to edit the listing to ad pics but don't see a way to do this. Alternatively, is there a way to delete the ad and try to start over?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Casey

I had a similar problem. The 'manage attachments' feature worked in regular forum posts but not in the classifieds. Upload your images into Photobucket or a similar free hosting site and copy the html link of each individual photo to paste into the text box of the ad.

To edit the ad scroll down below it and you'll see some icons. Hold your cursor over them and one of them is the edit button.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Just something for future reference; if you upload pictures in the pictures section (near the top of the page on which you create the ad), you ad will use one as a thumbnail (the first, by default) which appears on the classifieds front page and next to the ad's title in the catagorical listing. Without a picture there, your ad will not appear on the classifieds front page, and may get less clicks in the catagorical listing. (Clearly not an issue, given the items you were selling.)

Thank you. The problem I had with this is that it said my file size was too large. I resized the pics tried again and got a message they were still too big. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I use iPhoto and selected export, then resized the images and saved them. Selected the resized pics using the browse button in the classified listing and still got the error message.

I'm at a loss and I would like to figure it out as I have a few more items that will be going up soon.

    Thanks again for the help,

    Casey

I'm not sure what the max file size is, but my images are typically around 350kb. Hope that helps...

I think 1024x760 in jpg format usually works for me.

Mine are much larger; 2708 x 1800. That is why I'm pretty sure it is the file size, not the image size, that matters.

It is definately the image size. It is just that once i resize an image from 3648 x 2736 to 1024x768, it is usually quite a bit smaller.

Ben, when you resize, are you also changing the file size? I would assume the file size too, shrinks. I guess someone would have to play around or ask a Dev what the actual limits are.
