Thanked: 2259Thanks button
I'm still new to this forum, but I've participated on a few niche forums in the past.
I guess it's in the software, but i've never seen a "Thanks" button before... That button at the bottom of each post in which a thank you is offered for useful information in the post.
What is the protocol for using said button, if any?
I've gotton alot of useful information from the good folks here, and attempted to thank everyone, but I wonder sometimes if I've missed someone inadvertantly... I have no desire to insult anyone that's offered me good and helpful information...
Still getting used to things around here, but interested in thoughts also..

I use it when I've found a post informative, when someone's gone out of their way so help me, or even another member, when a member show's generosity, or when a post makes me laugh out loud. There are other times too. Just use it when you want to, but never just to kiss @rse!

Thanked: 1903We have no fixed rules, but the result says it all, really: 'useful post'. I only thank posts I find useful. Another overlooked feature is thread rating.
Regards,
Robin

Thanked: 1587I've done an in-depth study of the Thanks and other reputation based mechanisms utilised at one time or another on the forums. You can read my learned opinion and recommendations for usage here.
