iPhone app for SRP
A call to ARP admins and developers:
Any thoughts on developing an app for the iPhone (or Blackberry or other)?
Would be cool to get access to SRP while on the go
Just a thought.

Thanked: 1587I know nothing about apps for iphones, but I am pretty sure there are guys accessing SRP with said phones already. Not sure how, I guess maybe there is a web interface?? Or maybe that is just the chat I am thinking of...??

Hi James...you are right. A web interface is common, but is a pain to do on smart phones, IMO...it's not as nice as the computer web interface. That's why most banking and other websites that reply on people being on the web (when on the go) have developed simple apps to get people to get to and stay on their sites.
But, that's purely my opinion.
An app would be nice

Its been talked about before here. Theres some good points in there and talk about other ways of accessing the site on an iPhone.

I often find myself logging onto SRP on my Blackberry to read new posts and gather information.

I use my Blackberry all the time for SRP. Works great.
Not exactly the same as being on a PC, but pretty damn good.

Thanked: 2Mobile
Could probably come up with a handheld stylesheet, providing a more leaner experience on mobile devices. Depending on the device, some devices will ignore the stylesheet and render the site as is. Switching the stylesheet depending on the visitors browser would prob be a more robust option.
I read the articles through an RSS feed which is nice and lean on my android :-)

Maybe I am missing something. Are we talking about a reduced content feed for a smartphone that doesn't have a browser or something else entirely?
This is what I get on my phone, which I assume is what most people get if they are using a browser.

Bill,
I don't know...just an application that's easy to use without having the hassle of dealing with a browser on a smartphone...for example, some banks have applications to access your online banking needs, send money. For example PayPal even has a simple iPhone app that is very easy to use, send money and track your account without a browser. Login is easy, access is easy, interface is easy...things like that.

Thanked: 66Being a PC Engineer and many years in the IT world since I was a teenager...I know for sure there are various great shave sites other than SRP...and people want apps for their sites..problem is..if its an iphone app
( I use a iphone 3gs as well) people who want to make iphone apps are tied down to using Apple programming tools ONLY..though soon enough apple will be lifting those restrictions allowing people who make iphone apps to use their own 3rd party apps...hope this helps!
