Bruno, I am afraid you have not preempted speculation.

This is the problem of official announcements: their only purpose is to tell the audience what's considered safe for them to know, which is not necessarily the whole truth.

Sigh... Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I've long since accepted that there will always be people who don't try to work with us, but try to stir the pot instead. However, it annoys me that some people apparently think that I would be stupid enough to lie, much less lie in public.

I mentioned that Robin resigned, and that he requested his account closed. I mentioned that we created this announcement together. And I am still friends with Robin, just like before he resigned. I would have to be monumentally stupid to lie about any of those things when I know that Robin will also read this.

As for not knowing everything: you are right, we don't always tell everything. We have various good reasons not to. Not to hurt people, not to violate their privacy, not to get into legal trouble, not to wake sleeping dogs, etc. This is why we don't usually discuss reasons for banning people. That is between them and us.

This is also why I posted this announcement: that Robin was not banned (or asked to leave or whatever).
