Banned User
Every now and then I see under a persons name on the site banned user. If they are banned how is it they still post?

They are posts that were done prior to the user being banned. Once banned the user does not have any access to the site to continue to post.

Banned members are not able to post. What you are seeing are posts that were made pre-ban. The posters status or membership classification gets changed globally every time a change is made (ie: junior to senior member or active to banned member as two examples). This change appears even on old posts.

As nun2sharp points out, bad behavior will usually do it. We also have a list of rules and guidelines that need to be followed. See commiecat's post above.
Although it may seem like it's pretty easy to get banned, it really isn't. Spammers....no question and no delay. Other than that, it takes either a severe and deliberate action or a series of smaller offenses. We try to give a lot of guidance if there is a problem followed by a warning(s). If there is still a problem, we give a short term ban as a cooling off period. Banning is not something we take lightly. In fact, there is usually quite a bit of discussion leading to some consensus among the Mods before we do it.

Yes, being ungentlemanly will, indeed, get you banned. This community is one of the finest, most well behaved, friendliest communities out there. Here, the users behave as if they were facing each other, disregarding the annonimity that the internet provides us. Here we fing first names, faces and people that are willing to help. Have you noticed that: 1) people here don't swear? and 2) that people here tend to write in complete sentences, avoiding all those mind boggling abreviaions and whatnot? That is why I like and I am proud to be a member of SRP: the best online community in the world. If a member is unwilling to follow the unwriten rules - but that, unless one is a half-witt, can be deprehended by reading some posts... - he does not belong here, despite having a milion razors and a million brushes and strops.
There, I've said it!
